President’s Message

Description: T James MolloyI am very pleased to share with you, our valued clients, partners and employees, that 2013 was an outstanding year of growth and change at The Advance Group. In late 2012, and the early portion of 2013, the management team realized there were significant opportunities ahead but that we needed to prepare for those opportunities by making changes and improving the company in all areas. Boy, did we change! We have strengthened our team, our operations and our systems, the result of which is that 2014 looks equally as promising. Our efforts are paying off and we owe that to you.

While our competition was downsizing, we expanded. We invested in seasoned professionals who were ready to make changes. For example, we opened a new facility in New Jersey to better service the New York metropolitan area. Our Harrison facility has twice the capacity of our prior location and is more convenient to our customers and labor force. We are investing in new equipment and people at a time when the industry is doing the opposite.

What does this mean to our clients, partners and employees? It means that continued success lies ahead. We are committed to evolving and maintaining our status as the industry leader. This commitment leads to better service, satisfied clients, strong vendor relationships and employees with bright futures. I am very proud to lead this company along with my trusted and valued employees and I thank you for contributing to our success.

Advance Group Trends for 2014

Description: T James Molloy

As we look further into 2014, interesting trends are emerging. Not surprisingly, our classic “Office Moving Services” has changed significantly. We see smaller office footprints with smaller, paperless workstations taking over the office environment. However, we anticipated this and have made up for the change by expanding our capabilities into new service offerings.

Expanded New Areas of Concentration for The Advance Group:

  • Hospitality: storage and installation services for FF&E(furniture, fixtures, and equipment)
  • Healthcare/Labs: relocation services for equipment and contents
  • Furniture Installations: a particularly strong growth area especially in reconfiguration services
  • Retail Services: significant projects in opening new locations and re-supplying existing stores for major chains
  • Restoration Services: relocation services in support of disaster recovery efforts
  • Industrial Services: relocation of physical plants for manufacturing and distribution
  • Logistics: transportation management services on behalf of, and in response to, challenges posed by our clients
  • Liquidations: removals and disposal of FF&E

We have had notable successes this past year in each and every one of these specialized markets and have planned for greater growth in 2014. As we’ve taken on more varied projects, we’ve done a number of things to ensure that our customers are well served. For example, we’ve increased our Project Management staff and capabilities, growing to be the largest and most experienced department of its kind in our industry and in our local marketplace. We’ve invested in new trucks and equipment, as well as management and service personnel. We’ve also restructured our reporting and management systems to both streamline communication and clarify accountability. Also, we’ve added performance pay bonuses based on client satisfaction.

What does this all mean? For The Advance Group, it means a stronger and more diversified company that can keep moving forward as an industry leader. For our staff, it means a better working environment with greater rewards for a job well done. For our clients it means expanded services and unbeatable customer service.

Advancing the Sustainable Move

At The Advance Group, we are pleased to see that the importance of sustainability and “going green” – virtues we have long championed – are being increasingly reflected in today’s investor activism, new regulations, and changing consumer behavior. We want to remind our staff and customers of our commitment.

 The Advance Group Sustainability Commitment

  • We believe that environmental responsibility and social contribution are essential parts of every organization’s future.
  • We measure our own success in many ways, including the good we have created.
  • We understand that sustainability is a fundamental force that needs to be embraced and supported by businesses and appreciated by the public.
  • We hold that sustainability presents opportunities to advance innovative business models, implement a high value process, and foster technological changes.
  • We maintain that by following this commitment, The Advance Group and The Sustainable Move are making a difference for our customers, for our communities, for the environment and also for not-for-profit and charitable organizations.

The Advance Group is proud to maintain an 84% “Recover, Recapture, ReUse, and ReCycle” rate. Part of our commitment is also reflected in this e-newsletter you are now reading. We are dedicated to providing you with more information digitally and less printed matter as a way of saving valuable natural resources.

Q & A Corner

Description: T James Molloy

Q: My company has used The Advance Group before for moves within the New York Metropolitan Area, which is great since your headquarters are in New York. But now we are opening both regional and international offices? Can you handle those moves too?

A: Actually, you can count on The Advance Group for long-distance moves too! Our headquarters on Long Island is one of four tri-state locations. The Advance Group maintains a warehouse and storage facility, there, as well as in Maspeth, Queens and New Jersey. Additionally, we maintain an office in Manhattan. These four locations give us enormous flexibility and resources. Through Mayflower Transit, The Advance Group manages interstate and international projects. Mayflower Transit is a part of the world’s largest moving organization, Uni-Group.

To better serve the tri-state area, we opened a new facility in Harrison, N.J. – with twice the capacity of our previous location.

Now we can give you even greater international coverage through OMA! The Advance Group is now a member of the Office Moving Alliance, LLC– otherwise known as OMA. OMA members actively serve over 200 key cities in 10 countries around the globe. No matter where your move takes you, The Advance Group can help you organize it and make it go smoothly through its own resources and those of its partners.

Testimonials

Cantor Fitzgerald
The move completed just fine today. Rob and his team did a wonderful job with packing, coordinating, and handling last minute changes with ease and professionalism. Rob’s team
was a pleasure to work with. Thank you for your assistance in arranging for the move. Well done to all!

Christie – I can’t begin to tell you how smoothly and perfect the move went last week. As far as I’m concerned, you’ll be doing all my moves going forward. Your teams are as organized as a highly trained military special ops team. They are quick, compact, and carefully pack all items and safely move all of our fragile items without a hitch! To say I’m highly impressed is an understatement.

– Jeffrey Leavey | Radiation Safety Officer

HealthStar Communications
As we discussed last week, I can’t thank your team enough for the amazing job they did in moving us from 90 5th Avenue to 1745 Broadway. As you know, we had a short window of time and were under a lot of pressure to be out of the building. Thanks to Jeff’s and Dave’s confidence and planning, the move could not have gone any smoother. Also, a special thanks to Dave’s team of movers.

McGraw-Hill Education
I just wanted to take this time to say what an amazing job, help and support Lee was for me on the McGraw-Hill Education, 2 Penn Plaza project. I don’t think I would have been able to get half of what I needed to do without him here and all his help.
